Pouring Hope into the Hearts of Atlanta's Youth

The dictionary defines faith as “complete trust or confidence” and that’s precisely what Spoonful of Hope has in each of the kids we serve.

We see their potential.

We see their dreams coming true.

And we see them WINNING, despite where they live or what they have (and don’t have).

Here at Spoonful of Hope, we have complete trust and confidence that the youth we serve will achieve incredible success and that’s the unwavering faith we’re firing up in inner cities across Atlanta.

Now, we know a lot of organizations share mission statements, but, you see, we’re NOT simply on a mission to fuel our youth with hope … we’re promising to stir up success in kids who the rest of the world has given up on.

Our Promise

We promise to expose kids to the resources, education, experiences and guidance to truly believe there is no limit to the success they can achieve.

We promise to invest our time in listening to the youth and letting them know their hopes, fears and triumphs matter.

And we promise to inspire and motivate every child to become the best version of themselves in everything they do now and as adults.

But we can’t make good on this promise without your support. They say it “takes a village to raise a child” and we’re here with arms outstretched asking you to take part in the Spoonful of Hope village. Find out how you can help.

Meet Our Founder, Sean Weatherspoon

Self-confidence is considered one of the most significant indicators of high achievement in academics, careers, sports and life. And Spoonful of Hope’s founder and former NFL player for the Atlanta Falcons, Sean Weatherspoon is living proof of that.

At an early age, Sean’s parents encouraged him to push for greatness and believe in his abilities to achieve anything. They even poured the same inspiration into the hearts and souls of his friends, surrounding Sean with a hopeful village in which to grow and hone his skills as an athlete.

One of only four true freshmen to play for the University of Missouri Tigers in 2006, Sean saw game time in all 13 games and was named Mizzou's Special Teams’ Player of the Year.

Sean’s self-confidence was cooking up success.

In 2008, he finished the season with the 2nd-most tackles in Missouri’s single-season history and was named the game's defensive MVP after registering 17 tackles. In 2010, the Atlanta Falcons drafted Sean 19th overall.

Once again, his self-confidence was cooking up success.

Now, while Sean worked hard to perform at a high level on and off the field, it was his village that attributed to his achievements. From his parents, family and friends to Atlanta Falcons Arthur Blank, Sean was encircled by people who encouraged him to believe in talents and skills.

And as the founder of Spoonful of Hope, he shows Atlanta’s youth how to gain (or boost) their confidence in a way that stirs up success in their lives.

We are committed to uplifting parents and pouring self-worth, self-confidence and empowerment into the hearts and minds of low-income youth. They can do anything they set their minds to and we’re here to make sure they believe that.

Join us in our journey to cook up success in our local communities.
